GENERAL SUMMARY

The emPOWER Ankle is a market-leading bionic ankle/foot system that emulates the biological Achilles tendon and calf muscles. It is the only commercially available system that combines POWER for increased energy and less fatigue, CONTROL to normalize walking gait and reduce joint forces, and STABILITY for improved safety across any surface.
As we continue to grow our team we have an immediate need for a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, verify and validate the robot control software that drives the Company’s bionic products.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Perform the Basic Function as defined above in accordance with SOP’s that relate to software/firmware and system development;
- Collaborate on the formulation of testable requirements for robot design projects;
- Embed the principles of Risk Management in execution of the Basic Function above in accordance with ISO 14971 and IEC 60601-1;
- Recommend, on a proactive basis, alterations and enhancements that improve quality of product design, durability and dependability and that streamline project execution within Risk Management constraints;
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/ REQUIREMENTS
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent and at least 5+ years of experience in developing real-time control firmware in a medical-device environment;
- Proficient & demonstrated experience in C programming on 16 and 32 bit (i.e. ARM and dsPIC desired) microcontrollers;
- Experience with Bluetooth, WIFI and USB on embedded systems required;
- Experience with embedded Real-Time Operating Systems is required;
- Possesses knowledge and expertise in the development and implementation of real-time control systems, including: Modeling of system dynamics; Synthesis of feedback and feed forward control and Control of power electronics as applied to power supply design and motor control required;
- Experience with Python language is highly desired;
- Experience with automated code testing highly desired;
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
